A Green Plum Transforms the Future of a Mountain Town: A Journey of Industrial Upgrade Led by Tseng Hai-Hsing and Jiaxian District Farmers’Association.

Jiaxian, Kaohsiung, once faced a crisis in its green plum industry due to cheap imports and declining prices. Under the leadership of General Manager Tseng Hai-hsing, the Jiaxian District Farmers’ Association spearheaded a transformation from raw sales to high-value processing. Following the establishment of an organic processing plant in 2008, they launched the flagship "Black Gold Plum Essence" and the "Jiaxian Chuyun" brand, successfully implementing a product grading system. By offering guaranteed purchase prices and organic subsidies, the association has encouraged over 300 farmers to adopt organic cultivation, stabilizing local livelihoods. Furthermore, the association promotes the "experience economy" through DIY workshops, food education, and agritourism, while supporting young farmers to ensure sustainable development. Through branding and industrial upgrading, the green plum has successfully reshaped the future of this mountain town.
